Extension Block

A secondary block of transactions linked to a primary blockchain block.

An extension block is an auxiliary piece of data attached to a blockchain block. Transactions within the extension block are considered as having occurred at the same time as those within the primary block. It's one proposed solution to the problem of blockchain scalability.

Example:

An extension block linked to a Bitcoin block to increase transaction capacity.
